Korea Academic Recognition Information Center (KARIC, hereafter) of the Korean Council for University Education (KCUE, hereafter) held a workshop on September 27, 2024, to welcome the delegation from the Mongolian National Information Center (Mon-Naric, hereafter) and to strengthen cooperation in recognizing higher education qualifications. Following the opening of Mon-Naric office in June 2022, KARIC conducted a capacity-building workshop with Mon-Naric in March 2023. This workshop was organized as its follow-up activity but also to promote information sharing and mutual development through active communication and exchange.

Ms. Minah Park welcomed the Mon-Naric delegation’s visit to Korea and expressed hope that constructive discussions would enhance the mutual recognition of higher education qualifications between the two countries. Ms. Minah Park and Mr. Yondonsambuu Tserenpuu introduced the roles and functions of their respective National Information Centers. Furthermore, there were presentations on the introduction and demonstration of KARIC's website, Korean higher education system and liberalization of university academic management, and Mongolian higher education system and qualification recognition, followed by a Q&A and discussion session.
This workshop provided an opportunity to explore the role of National Information Centers in the changing domestic and international higher education landscape. KARIC and Mon-Naric plan to establish a strategic cooperative relationship regarding the recognition of higher education qualifications and will formalize this through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two Centers with specific discussions in the near future.
