The Korea Academic Recognition Information Center(KARIC) held the "KARIC Opening Ceremony" at Novotel Ambassador Dongdaemun on 13 June 2019. In conjunction with it, KARIC held the "Workshop on the Qualification Recognition and Higher Education System" and shared the current status of qualification recognition at national level and higher education system of Korea, Vietnam, and Australia on 14 June 2019.
 
A total of 36 guests from 10 countries - including directors, representatives, and experts of Korean Ministry of Eucation, Korean Council for University Education(KCUE), Nuffic Neso Korea, National Institute for Lifelong Education, Korean Council for University College Education(KCCE), Korean National Commission for UNESCO, UNESCO Bangkok, Vietnam National Academic Recognition Information Centre(VN-NARIC), and Australian Government Department of Education and Training - attended the ceremony and congratulated the official opening of KARIC.
 
The event was held in the order of Opening Remarks(Meekyung Shin, Korean Ministry of Education), Greetings(Jongbo Yim, KCUE), Congratulatory Remarks(Tran Thi Ngoc Bich, VN-NARIC / Elizabeth Campbell-Dorning, Australian Government Department of Education and Training) Presentation(Wesley Teter, UNESCO Bangkok / Dongseok Seo, KARIC).
 
Meekyung Shin, Director of Korean Ministry of Education, said "KARIC will contribute to promoting mobility and strengthening cooperation in higher education". Jongbo Yim, President of KCUE, mentioned "KARIC will further expand its function and scale in the future".
 
Tran Thi Ngoc Bich, Director of VN-NARIC and Elizabeth Campbell-Dorning, Counselor of Australian Government Department of Education and Training delivered congratulatory remarks.
 
Regarding presentations, Wesley Teter, Senior Specialist of UNESCO Bangkok, talked about the meaning of Tokyo Convention and Dongseok Seo, Director of KARIC, gave a presentation on "Past, Present, and Future of KARIC". Moreover, KARIC announced its new st art through the Signboard Awarding and Ribbon Cutting.
 
The ceremony was organized to celebrate the designation of KARIC as a National Information Centre(NIC) on 2 April 2019. KARIC has established in 2017 and laid the foundation for the implementation of the "Asia-Pacific Regional Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education" in Korea. It will take a role of providing information on higher education system and academic degrees to enhance recognition of qualifications globally.
